In an Urbis led consortium Cultural Capital was engaged to deliver a report for the Master Plan on cultural and art opportunities for VPB, titled the Creative Expression Strategy.
The report was built on the existing Victoria Park Vision (2019) and provided a framework for identifying creative expression and art opportunities in the future. It encompassed examples of narrative themes and art references that could inspire creative expression, as well as guidelines for future implementation and procurement.
The Strategy was designed to be read in conjunction with other technical studies conducted for the Victoria Park Masterplan, particularly the sections: Cultural Landscape and Unique Experiences.
The concepts were developed around the opportunity of STORY-MAKING, specifically addressing ways in which various forms of creativity – including sculpture, performance, visual art, and lighting – could be developed by integrating artists and art practice with architecture and landscape. It was this process of making stories, rather than simply telling them, that invited discovery, adventure, and reconnection at Victoria Park and encouraged people to dwell in a new and culturally rich experience of Brisbane.
