transPORTed: The Bays Art Program presented an ambitious strategy to develop a collection of cultural interventions inspired by the Bays of Sydney Harbour and the port as the interface between land and water.

From rock art that connects us to Australia’s Indigeneity – through reinterpretations of 20th century naval traditions – to hyper-contemporary data visualisations – transPORTed: The Bays Art Program looked to offer the people of Sydney new experiences of its elemental harbour.

Cultural Capital was engaged to prepare a public art masterplan for Glebe Island and White Bay. Cultural Capital’s work encompassed comprehensive site analysis; development of the curatorial vision; identification of the location and typologies for art; a framework for procurement; a methodology for delivery and project reporting; establishment of project governance and risk mitigation.

The art masterplan establishes a vision for a collection of cultural interventions inspired by the Bays of Sydney Harbour and the Glebe Island and White Bay port. Cultural Capital delivered an ambitious public art strategy that positions Port Authority NSW as an innovative leader in the global maritime context, and a key interface between Sydney’s port industry and local community.
