TfNSW is undertaking the State Significant Precinct program to revitalize the Central Precinct in central Sydney, covering over 24 hectares of Government-owned land.
Cultural Capital, collaborating with Tyrrell Studio, Architectus, Artefact, and Balarinji, has developed a comprehensive public art strategy aligning with the project’s architectural and urban design vision.
The strategy highlights the transformative potential of cultural expression and art, serving as vital connectors within the precinct. It aims to enrich local communities, establish a sense of place, and stimulate economic development.
The strategy includes five curatorial frameworks outlining the organisation and delivery of major art projects, identifying locations, funding models, implementation framework, and benchmarks.
Cultural Capital facilitated engagement sessions with cultural institutions, gathering feedback to ensure alignment with Sydney’s broader arts and cultural communities. This innovative program aims to elevate Sydney’s global standing, leaving a lasting legacy for the people of New South Wales. It seeks to foster identity, attract visitors, enhance citizen enjoyment, enliven public spaces, promote well-being, and generate economic benefits.
