Announcing the ‘Canal to Creek’ Education Portal

May 12, 2021

The Canal to Creek Public Art Program includes eighteen signature artworks that have activated new and existing parklands between St Peters and Beverly Hills and includes contemporary sculpture, artist-designed playgrounds, large-scale murals and an immersive lighting installation.

To ensure these artworks are accessible to everyone, no matter where they are located, WestConnex | Transurban developed a fully immersive and interactive online educational portal that allows students, teachers and art lovers to experience the artworks from the comfort of their classrooms and homes. Each piece of art can be explored in 360-degree view from any device, anywhere. You can deep dive into each piece, hear directly from the artists, and take a behind the scenes look at how they brought their ideas to life.

WestConnex | Transurban partnered with Visual Arts & Design Educators Association (VADEA) to develop comprehensive materials that align directly with the requirements of the NSW Visual Arts Curriculum for Stages 4 and 5 (Years 7 to 10), allowing the Canal to Creek program to become a real life case study for visual arts students, in any location. The portal was officially launched at the annual VADEA teacher conference last Friday.

The Public Art Program is one of WestConnex’s biggest legacy projects and continuing the program via the Public Art Portal allows that legacy to continue beyond installation.
