Between February and April 2017 Cultural Capital developed a Public Art Strategy for The W Hotel, a new 25 story 6 star hotel in the heart of Sydney’s tourism and entertainment precinct –  Darling Harbour. The Public Art Strategy has been approved by the Department of Planning as the cultural component of the development project.

Cultural Capital undertook a program of curatorial research that culminated in a document recommending appropriate art opportunities, commissioning models, management processes and the formation of an art panel. The selected artwork which is over 10m tall is currently under construction and will be installed late 2020.

We worked closely with a team of stakeholders including Property NSW, City of Sydney and client representatives who reviewed the strategy throughout the process.
