Halo, a 17m high kinetic artwork installed at Central Park, Broadway on the edge of Sydney’s CBD, is part of the redevelopment of the large old Kent Brewery site. The major new residential tower of this development has been designed by Jean Nouvel, one of the world’s leading architects. Project Developer Frasers chose the adjacent public park for a significant artwork as a central focal point.
Frasers commissioned pre-eminent Australian artists Jennifer Turpin and Michaelie Crawford of Turpin Crawford Studios to create the artwork. The resulting 17m x 12m wind activated kinetic sculpture required extensive research, rigorous testing and inventive engineering design.Cultural Capital’s Technical Director Harry Partridge worked with our engineering partners Partridge Event to deliver the complex artwork; handling project management, structural and mechanical design, fabrication oversight, testing and installation.
